The tornado touched down in northern Wapello County, where a chicken barn was destroyed and utility poles were either snapped or found leaning. Through Keokuk, Iowa, and Johnson counties, numerous outbuildings were either damaged or destroyed, with the two fatalities (one west of Martinsburg and one north of Kinross) being associated with destroyed outbuildings. Also, a mobile home was pushed off of its foundation in Martinsburg and numerous trees and power poles were downed along the path.
